The Mountain Shadow Amphitheater

          We used the new stage for the 2016 Mountain Shadow Music Festival and the 2017 festival as well. In 2018 we did not have a festival for personal reasons but rather went back to the old “Pina Colada” party. In 2019 Lisa broke both wrists (roller skating) and again, we did not have a festival.          

          We planned a festival for 2020 but had to cancel it because of Covid. Later that year we asked Brian if he could put a cover over the new stage, mainly for weather reasons. 

          After the covered stage was completed we asked our good friend and artist Roger Anderson to make up decorative plaques to adorn the front of the new stage; Smiley faces, music notes, peace signs, etc. and also asked him to design a commemorative “fish” to dedicate the stage to the person that had the initial idea. 

           For the 2021 Mountain Shadow Music Festival we decided to try to install a 20 foot by 40 foot tarp out from the stage to make the festival more of a rain or shine event. While the tarp worked for shade, it was no match for heavy rain. In 2022 we tried a better quality tarp and new design. We tested it in May at Bob’s Birthday bash. The rain won once again! 

          The tarp failure in May of 2022 left us little time to come up with a plan to make the festival weather proof by August. We contacted a local construction company, Workman Construction out of Taylorsville, NC and they indicated that they could build a permanent cover and could meet our time restrictions. 

          Lisa then came up with a brilliant plan for more rain protection; CURTAINS! She repurposed the white tarp that had failed us in May and designed them to be either open or closed.  

           Some painting and decorating and the new Mountain Shadow Amphitheater was ready to go! 

            It rained both nights of the 2022 festival but everyone stayed dry! We are so happy with the way it turned out.

*YOU CAN USE THIS FACILITY!!*

           The Mountain Shadow Amphitheater is available to use by friends of Lisa & Bob, Non-profit organizations or musicians and bands. Since we are a not-for-profit facility there is no charge for usage. We will, however, accept donations. Other expenses such as Port-A-Johns or other necessities are the sole responsibility of the users.

           We suggest our amphitheater and surrounding yard could be used by friends that wish to throw a party but don’t have a large enough yard, bands or musicians that want to present a private concert, local non-profit organizations like theater or music venues or nonprofits that wish to have an event with music.
